Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has been found guilty of wrongfully forfeiting the security deposit of a dealer. The state-run telco has been ordered to pay Rs 10.5 lakh to the concerned dealer by the commercial court. BSNL continued to provide services to a customer for a long time, even after he had stopped paying bills. According to a TNN report, the court believed that it wasn’t the fault of the dealer that the telco kept on providing services to a customer who wasn’t paying bills....

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) might be able to roll out 4G in the next six months. The telco is looking for the up-gradation of more than 49,300 sites across India, including the ones covered by ZTE, so that it can roll out 4G faster. The state-run-telco has expressed its inabilities of meeting the requirements for the rollout of a new 4G tender and has said that if it were to go after fulfilling the requirements, it would take another two years for it to roll out 4G....

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Tuesday announced that its existing landline users and the broadband users with its landline connections can now migrate to Bharat Fiber connections by retaining existing number. The operator highlighted that the users can migrate to both Bharat Fiber voice and Bharat Fiber voice with broadband connections by retaining their existing number. The implementation of landline to Bharat Fiber connection is said to be introduced “because of high data usage” with the scheme available across India....

The telco has regularised two prepaid plans, announced three promotional offers, and rationalised/revised one prepaid plan. The ‘STV-298’ and ‘FRC-249’ are the prepaid plans that are regularised, while the three promotional offers include ‘PV-699’, full-talk time on recharge of Rs 100, and ‘PV-2399’. The one plan that has been revised is ‘FRC-108’....

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has reintroduced its Rs 499 Bharat Fiber plan in select circles across India. The Rs 499 plan dubbed as “100GB CUL” or “Fibro 100” was introduced across India except Andaman and Nicobar Islands in early 2020. Initially, BSNL highlighted that the Fibro 100 had an validity till March 31, however, the operator later extended the plan to June 29. While BSNL dropped the Fibro 100 plan on June 30, the operator has now reintroduced the plan in select circles across India....

A few months ago, BSNL revised its postpaid offerings to tackle the offerings from private operators. After the revision, BSNL started offering postpaid plans bundled with add-on connections. In the similar price range, there are other postpaid plans from Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea bundled with add-on connections. Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio has Rs 799 Postpaid Plus plan, whereas Airtel has a Rs 749 plan....

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will launch its internet protocol television (IPTV) services in the Kerala circle on August 27, 2020 on a “trial basis.” The development was shared by P G Nirmal, BSNL Kerala general manager for sales and marketing in a letter to the operator’s business area heads on Friday. It has to be noted that BSNL in February unveiled its IPTV services in Kerala. However, the IPTV service in the region remained a “non starter” due to the lack of an “acceptable revenue share formula” between BSNL, IPTV service provider and the local cable operator (LCO)....

At an industry event on Friday, Telecom Secretary K Rajaraman announced that BSNL, a state-run company, is working on the government’s 4G saturation initiative, which aims to bring high-speed broadband connections to every village over the next year or so. Additionally, he claimed that the BSNL has already granted a significant number of contracts for passive infrastructure while still finalising those for active infrastructure. Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) is pushing for a level playing field between telecom operators and the over-the-top (OTT) players. In the telecom draft bill 2022, the govt had proposed bringing the OTT communication players under regulation. The move was pegged to push user security as a priority. COAI, the industry body which represents the private telecom operators in the country, doesn’t like the fact that there’s not a level playing field for the telcos and OTT communication players....
