Vodafone Idea (Vi), the ailing telecom operator has said that its board is going to meet on June 22, 2022 (Wednesday) for considering a proposal for raising up to Rs 500 crore. The telco said in a BSE filing that its board will discuss a Rs 500 crore fundraising via issuance of equity shares or convertible warrants on a preferential basis to one or more entities belonging to Vodafone Group UK, the largest promoter of the company....

The telco has deployed 900 MHz spectrum on 3100+ sites as well as 1800 MHz band on 10295 sites in both the regions. Vodafone Idea’s (Vi) managing director, Ravinder Takkar, has downplayed the smartphone offers from Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel. Reliance Jio is providing the market with JioPhone Next under the EMI scheme while Airtel is offering a cashback on the purchase of select smartphones. According to an ET Telecom report, speaking to analysts, Takkar downplayed the impact of JioPhone Next and Airtel’s smartphone cashback offer. Vodafone Idea, the third-largest telecom service provider (TSP) in India, might get around Rs 20,000 crore in the next two weeks. According to an ET Telecom report, the telco might get around Rs 14,000 crore from the government in the form of returned bank guarantees (BGs) and another Rs 7,000 to Rs 8,000 crore from its promoters, including the Aditya Birla Group (ABG) and the Vodafone Group Plc. On Monday, Meta-owned messaging app WhatsApp announced a new feature that will allow users to message themselves. The ‘Message Yourself’ feature, which the company says will be available soon, will allow users to send messages on their own account. Reminders, to-do lists, pictures, audio files, and documents are examples of these messages. Both Android and iOS users will be able to use the aforementioned feature.
