The renowned telecom operator of Canada, Telus, has announced expansion plans of its next-generation 5G network. The expansion plan will include additional 529 urban and rural communities across the region by the end of 2021. As reported by RCR Wireless, Telus 5G expansion plan will include deployments in 187 communities in British Columbia, 161 in Quebec, 136 in Alberta, 24 and 12 in Ontario and Manitoba, respectively. It is also estimated that Telus 5G network will offer high-speed network coverage and nearly cover 70% of the Canadian population by the end of the year by using current spectrum holdings....

Railways Requests 700 MHz Premium Spectrum for Safety Applications The Department of Telecommunications, on the other hand, had referred the matter to the telecom regulatory back in February 2019. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on Thursday issued a consultation paper for promoting and enhancing broadband connectivity across the country. The authority through the “Roadmap to Promote Broadband Connectivity and Enhanced Broadband Speed” consultation paper intends to seek inputs of stakeholders on “defining fixed and mobile broadband” and other elements of broadband connectivity. Reliance Jio Currently Conducting Trials for GigaFiber FTTH Service As per a mint report, an anonymous person aware of the matter said, “Trai will start the consultation on this…the process will take six months at least.” These new rules would come before the commercial launch of the Reliance Jio GigaFiber, the new FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) service announced by the Mukesh Ambani led telecom operator, Reliance Jio Infocomm in 2018. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is looking to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) for curbing cybercrime and SIM frauds. India allows consumers to hold up to 9 SIM cards under their name. This gives fraudsters room for taking multiple SIM cards and then utilising them for fraud.
