Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced a new prepaid voucher of Rs 398 which will offer truly unlimited voice calling and data benefits to the user. To clarify, truly unlimited here means without fair usage policy (FUP) restrictions. Users will be able to make unlimited downloads/uploads and voice calls within India without worrying about exhausting FUP limits. It is worthy to note that none of the other prepaid offerings from any of the telecom operators including Airtel, Vodafone Idea (Vi), and Reliance Jio come with such a benefit — more on the story ahead....

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Odisha Circle announced that the fixed monthly charges of various landline plans will be hiked from August 1, 2020. The development shared by the BSNL Odisha circle on its website highlighted that the fixed monthly charges of landline plans will be hiked in the range of Rs 4 to Rs 30. BSNL offers five major landline plans in the Odisha circle with the base plan priced at Rs 129 while the top-tier plan carries the price tag of Rs 495....

BSNL Withdraws Many Voice-Based Plans BSNL announced that effective August 23, 2019, a handful of STVs would be discontinued. The list uploaded by BSNL Chennai highlights that it will stop offering the STV 291 which used to offer 10 paise/min calls with 90 days validity, voice STV 152, voice STV 42, STV 88, STV 58, STV 181 and STV 43. The last one of these, STV 43, used to offer unlimited calls on and off BSNL network and it could be clubbed with BSNL prepaid voucher of Rs 186, Rs 429, Rs 485, Rs 666 only....

BSNL Work@Home Broadband Plan Explained Everyone’s working from their homes, and the demand for data consumption has increased more than two-fold. New Framework More Transparent for Smaller MSOs The report by Trai also stated that there are around 1100 active MSOs in the country, which in total control about 100 million subscribers. The Indian government might amend the license conditions so that telcos in the country can’t take any critical telecom equipment from a Chinese vendor. If this were to happen, Huawei and ZTE would have no impact or contribution on the 5G trials and deployments in India. The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has lauded the Indian government’s efforts of bringing telecom connectivity to remote regions of India. The government recently approved a Rs 6,466 crore package for ensuring that remote areas of the country are also connected with mobile networks. Users in New Delhi got a median download speed of 14.99 Mbps and a median fixed broadband download speed of 63.20 Mbps. In the top cities list of Ookla, only Delhi and Mumbai made it for the month of September 2022. Dish TV denied the news reports suggesting a sale of its majority stake to the leading telecom service provider Bharti Airtel. South India centred Direct-to-Home (DTH) operator Sun Direct has lowered its Network Capacity Fee (NCF) charges for its subscribers. The operator on Thursday revised its NCF charges resulting in its users paying the least NCF charges on both their primary and secondary connections. For the unaware, NCF charges are those charges which the subscribers pay to the network provider for purchasing different bundles of channels. Sun Direct has reduced the NCF charges for its subscribers to Rs 59 (inclusive of taxes) for the initial 200 channels....

Ericsson, a globally renowned telecom gear and technology vendor released an updated version of the ‘Ericsson Mobility Report’ via a virtual briefing. In its insights for India, Ericsson said that with 5G, the average monthly data consumption per device will go up to 50GB per month by 2027 from 20GB per month in 2021. Dr Thiaw Seng Ng, Head of Network Evolution, SEA, Oceania and India, Ericsson said the total mobile traffic in the India region is estimated to grow by a factor of 4 between 2021 and 2027....
