Vodafone Idea (Vi) has cleared all of its dues related to license fees to the government. According to an ET Telecom report, a person close to the matter said that the company has paid complete dues with interest to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). The DoT had issued a show-cause notice to the telco asking reasons for why it did not clear dues related to license fees during the last quarter of FY2020-21 for seven circles of India....

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has just announced that it partnered with Nokia to demonstrate network slicing over the 5G standalone (SA) network. The telco used Nokia’s 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) and 5G core to go make this demonstration possible. Vodafone Idea conducted this demonstration in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The telco used the 5G spectrum allocated by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). This announcement comes close on the heels of the price hike on Vi tariff plans by up to 25%. Vodafone Idea Allowed More FDI Now Vodafone Idea’s proposal to the government of allowing foreign direct investment to the count of Rs 15,000 crore has now been approved. Previously, the telecom operator was limited by the investment governing laws of the country, where they could not seek more than Rs 15,000 crore from a firm abroad. Vodafone Idea (Vi) was able to recover in the urban markets in the September quarter, due to which the telco’s revenue market share (RMS) steadied. According to an ET Telecom report citing TRAI data collated by ICICI Securities, Vi had reported a steady RMS of 18.6% in Q2 FY22. The analyst said that Vi showed good recovery in all the metro and A circles (except Andhra Pradesh). Vodafone Idea (Vi), the third-largest telecom operator in India, has just announced that it will offer a premium music streaming service to its users with Hungama Music. By partnering with Hungama Music, Vodafone Idea has strengthened its over-the-top (OTT) offering to the network service customers. Under this partnership, the telco will be offering its prepaid and postpaid customers six months of Hungama Music premium subscription at no additional cost. Vi users getting a premium subscription to Hungama Music can listen to content such as podcasts and songs, download unlimited titles, stream music videos, and more in 20 languages....
